In what is believed to be a universe first, Elon Musk has announced that after sending a Tesla electric car into space on a journey to Mars, he is taking the next step. He is packing a selection of espadrilles from Spanish company, Viscata on his proposed one way mission to ensure the planet’s survival.
According to Musk: “Recently we've seen some incredible images of the surface of Mars in ultra sharp definition. It’s clear that the surface of the planet is sand like. It seems to us that this is the perfect landscape for us to try out espadrilles. We already know that they are perfect for the beach and it seems that, while the red planet might not quite have the Mediterranean climate that we ‘re used to here on earth, these could be the perfect shoes for strolling the sandy expanses of Mars.
We think this is one small step for humankind, but it could be a giant leap forward for espadrilles”.
According to April Fewell from Viscata: “This is a great opportunity for us. When HR Catherine,The Duchess of Cambridge wore a pair of espadrilles a few years ago, we knew things would go stratospheric, but heading to Mars is beyond our wildest dreams. And with the largest online selection of espadrilles available on planet earth, we knew that we had to be the first to get our shoes to the final frontier"
“When Musk’s army of volunteers land, they’re going to need some shoes for their downtime - and we can’t think of anything better than a pair of espadrilles. They’ve already been tested on the beaches of planet earth and we think that they could become all the rage in outer space, once they’ve made their mark”.
As of April 1, we have a number of new shoes that we think would be valued by the space community. In fact, we think they’d be fools not to try them out. Our Sneakerdrilles are comfortable, durable and stylish. They’ve proved themselves to be robust and strong enough to survive even the wildest parties in Ibiza. Now’s the chance to prove themselves in an atmosphere quite unlike anything here on earth.
"At this time, we’re doing everything we can to reduce the need for populating another planet with our sustainable policies. If all else fails, we’ll hop on board with our shoes and test them out on the sandy spaces of Mars. This is one small step for humankind, but one giant leap for Viscata espadrilles!”
