Lace-up espadrilles are without doubt one of the best known and most famous shoe styles on the planet. These versatile and natural Spanish shoes have come a long way from the basic foot coverings invented for Spanish soldiers more than 600 years ago. These days, lace-up espadrilles come in all shapes and sizes and they can be found on the feet of everybody from royalty to rock stars. Nobody can deny that these shoes have become style icons over the decades. From their reinvention by Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s all the way through to style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Princess Grace of Monaco and beyond, espadrilles have always had a chic look.

More recently, they have become a firm favorite of modern royalty, with Kate Middleton espadrilles regularly featuring on her royal tours, walkabouts and even kids’ sports days.
